UWE Distance Learning Paramedic Science programme – applications now open

working wondersSWAST are pleased to confirm that the application window is now open for the next 2.5-year cohort of the UWE Distance Learning Paramedic Science programme.

Closing Date for Applications and Line Manager Reference: 15 September 2019

Interview Dates: Week commencing 14 and 21 October 2019

Course Start Date: 25 March 2020

Course Fees: £15,000, self-funded plus £443 for Accelerated Learning (AL) Module

**There are current discussions ongoing to secure additional HEE funding which would reduce the cost of this course to £5,000. The course cost will be confirmed before interview.

Entry requirements:

•GCSE Grade A – C in Maths & English or the equivalent Functional Skills certificate (these must be evidenced in order to commence on the programme),
•A minimum of one year’s NHS clinical frontline experience working as an Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Practitioner, HDU Care Technician or an Advanced Technician within the previous five years. This must be achieved by the start date of the course.

Application requirements:

The application will require you to summarise your clinical experience to date, why you would like a place on this programme, and what would make you the ideal candidate. Before you complete your application, you are required to email your line manager to request a reference.

Please note that when shortlisting applications, we will be looking at the following criteria:
•The summary you have provided on your application of your clinical experience to date, why you would like a place on this programme, and what would make you the ideal candidate
•Your Line Manager reference
•Whether you are currently in the Talent Pool.

Each of these elements will be measured against a weighting criteria and will be taken into consideration when shortlisting.

Both your completed application and the accompanying Line Manager Reference need to be returned to People.Development@swast.nhs.uk by 15 September 2019.

It is your responsibility to ensure this documentation is returned by this date, failure to do so may result in your application being withdrawn from the selection process.

Accelerated Learning dates

Prior to commencing the course, you will be required to undertake an Accelerated Learning Module with the University of West of England (UWE) which will take place on 28 and 29 November, and 3 and 4 December 2019. Please note that attendance on all of these dates is mandatory.
