We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued hard work in providing a quality placement for all students!

As your Practice Placement Co-coordinator (PPC) team, we would like to update you on the work we have been doing towards getting students from all of our partner universities returning to practice placements.

In line with the national agenda and Health Education England, the students in placement risk assessments have been comprehensively reviewed, taking into consideration the changes in line with the Working Safely during COVID guidance and in conjunction with other trust risk assessments. We have been in constant communications with the Operational command teams and universities because as a trust it is our priority to protect you, the Practice Educators and the students whilst out on placements.

The placement that the student experiences may be slightly different to that of which we are all used to. The universities have been working to change their approaches to placement, reducing placement hours, focusing on competency attainment and using simulation to name a few. These changes are exciting and provides us with a new way of realising the potential of our students. We hope that you too are excited to be a part of this change, and are enthused to have our students back on placement and working together.

We will continue to offer support to you and the students in the usual way and will continue to update the mentor pages on both the intranet and learn with SWAST mentor resource area.

Please feel free to contact the PPC’s at PracticeEducationTeam@SWAST.nhs.uk if you have any concerns.
