This is an interactive masterclass, which provides an insight into a range of specialist legal issues.

Content

Part 1: Explores the problems associated with obtaining consent from children and adolescents, examines parental responsibility, considers what happens when a child refuses treatment, and investigates what happens when conflict arises between parents and medical professionals.

Part 2: Explores the recent law concerning end-of-life decision-making, and provides an opportunity for sharing experiences about what can be an extremely challenging time for both clinicians and patients.

Outcomes

It will enhance awareness and improve understanding of an important range of medico-legal considerations which are increasingly affecting the everyday working lives of healthcare professionals. A key focus is to allow participants to develop a greater understanding of how the law works in theory and in practice, and to help prevent complaints arising from a legal perspective.

Eligibility

This course is for patient facing staff only (all grades including registered HCPCs and non-registered staff.)
