Miss the crew room and office chats?

Working for the ambulance service can be stressful and we know from a systematic review of the evidence that employees want more time at work to look after themselves and their colleagues.

To build on this evidence we invite all SWASFT employees (from all roles) to express interest in joining a focus group (or one to one interview if preferred) where you can share your opinion and thoughts about why some colleagues are happy to ask for help from organisational support services and why some are not. This information will be used to help minimise any barriers and to enhance any facilitators to ambulance staff accessing support when needed.

Who is invited?

All employees are invited to participate in this study, regardless of their job role, as all staff can be affected by what they see, hear, and read at work. We particularly welcome staff who wouldn’t use organisational support for themselves but would be happy to talk about the topic to help support their colleagues.

We want to hear your thoughts and opinions about making time at work to look after ourselves and each other, and what this could look like.

Participants will be invited to join a group of peers to discuss why some employees are happy to seek support for mental health and wellbeing and why some are not. These focus groups will be held at flexible times and you can join in person or online via Microsoft Teams, depending on what suits you. You can also ask for a one-to-one interview if you would prefer not to be part of a group. The focus groups (or one-to-one interview) are expected to last approximately one hour.

Please read the Participant Information Sheet for further information.

Gift vouchers are provided to thank you for your time if you are interested in getting involved.

Please read the information sheet and then click the button at the top of this page to express your interest. The expression of interest will close on 17th November 2024.

Please contact Research Paramedic Sasha Johnston who is leading this research if you have any questions at sasha.johnston@psy.ox.ac.uk.
