This university module is delivered virtually & is suitable for both registered and non-registered staff who may have a student as part of their role.

This 20 credit Level 6 (degree-level) module is run in Partnership with the University of Plymouth and is suitable for anyone in a role where they may have a student.
The module will prepare you to provide a contribution to the education and facilitation of students/learners and to develop education within your practice setting by giving you an advanced knowledge and critical awareness of mentorship (practice education) in healthcare practice.

- team work and the communication and development of working relationships
- developing coping and mastery skills and creating positive attitudes to teaching and learning
- enabling learning in practice and student/mentor/clinical supervisor support systems
- evidence based practice and audit
- autonomous educational practice and reflective practice
- assessment and appraisal systems
- education and healthcare policy and professional standards.
Assessed Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:
- Meet the NMC or HCPC Standards for education and supporting learning and assessment in practice.
- Engage in and critically evaluate strategies used to provide effective facilitation of practice learning.
- Analyse factors likely to affect the provision of mentorship in practice settings.
- Identify and reflect on professional issues arising from assessment in practice, including inter-assessor reliability.
- Critically evaluate the contemporary issues in both healthcare and education that influence practice education.
- Explore current assessment or appraisal systems.
You must be able to attend all 4 days and will be expected to submit a L6 piece of academic work.
- This is a 20 credit Level 6 module run in collaboration with Plymouth University.
