SWASFT paramedics are invited to be involved in a Big Sim being held at Gloucester Royal Hospital. The role would be to simulate the patient handover to our resuscitation team, after which you are welcome to observe the simulation and attend the debrief.

Format: This is a 3 hour event, taking place in person.

Location: Gloucester Royal Hospital ED

Eligibility: Registered paramedics

Suitability: NQPs are welcome, but would need to be accompanied by a senior colleague.

SWAST’s Role

The expectation of SWAST colleagues would be that they are given the stem of an unwell patient they’re transporting to hospital. Exact logistics will be played by ear, but at the most they will be asked to give a pre-alert via phone, wheel the patient into resus, help transfer them across and give a handover, at which point they can step down from the scenario and observe, and join the debrief afterwards.

The paramedic team will only have a small involvement in the sim – probably 5-10 minutes of a 60-90m sim, and attendance of the debrief – but GRH would love to involve SWAST to improve realism and also offer a unique learning opportunity for them as well.

Location

This sim will be taking place indoors.

Location: Gloucester Royal Hospital ED

Date: Tuesday 9th December 2025
