The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (previously known as PTLLS) is a nationally accredited teaching qualification and provides an excellent introduction to the role of teaching. The course ensures successful candidates develop the skills to become competent trainers who understand the variables involved in setting up an effective learning environment.

 

The courses has three units:

a) Roles and responsibilities within education and training
b) Inclusive practice
c) Assessment in education and training

 

Format:

Learners can complete the course at their own pace and it can be started at any point.

 

Assessment:

Learners complete the three written assessments using the electronic resources with videos explaining the topics step by step. Upon successful completion of the three written assessments, learners are supported to plan their 15 minute micro-teach for the practical assessment. They will then deliver this to their peers live on one of the regular virtual assessment sessions.

This course is best suited to those looking for an introduction to the role of teaching or training. The qualifications can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers or trainers, including:

  • Individuals not currently teaching or training
  • Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession
  • Individuals currently working as assessors, who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching
  • A flexible self-paced format: complete at your own pace using the training materials and recorded lessons available.
  • 48 guided learning hours
  • Three written assessments with guidance from electronic resources including videos. Suggested word count 2000 words per assignment.
  • Practical assessment involving a live 15 minute micro-teach
  • Unlimited support as and when needed from the team available over the phone or via email during office hours; support outside of these times can also be arranged.
  • Dedicated marking team: To support with draft assignments. No limit on re submissions and no additional re submission fees.
  • E-certificate: a certificate will be sent to the SWAST CPD Team once you have completed the qualification.
It is recommended that you attempt to complete the qualification with 4-6 weeks from starting the course.
