The team at Wiltshire Air Ambulance are pleased to invite you to their upcoming Airway Essentials day. The event will cover all the key areas of airway assessment and management, including a blend of mini-teaching sessions, practical workshops and simulation.

  • Kitchen facilities on site, please bring own lunch.
  • CPD certificate provided on completion of the day.
  • If you are unable to make this date there will be future events/opportunities.

  • Sign in on arrival at reception and meet up stairs in the foyer.

 

Eligibility criteria

This event is aimed at registered clinicians; paramedics, nurses and NQPs.

Spaces are primarily available for colleagues based in Wiltshire. To ensure a balanced skill mix on the day, expressions of interest are being taken for this session. Staff will be made aware if they have a place after 24/10/24 by the educators.

Programme

A blend of mini-teaching sessions, airway workshops and simulations to cover the following topics:

  • Airway assessment and the difficult airway
  • Assessing the ability to bag valve mask ventilation
  • OPA/NPA sizing and insertion
  • iGel sizing and insertion
  • iGel management tips
  • Airway circuit set up
  • Interpreting capnography
  • What can Enhanced and Critical Care offer to the management of airways?
  • Airway head workshops
  • SIMS

 

Learning Outcomes
  • Appropriate sizing and insertion of OPA/NPA
  • Appropriate sizing, insertion and management of iGel airways
  • Learn how to assess an airway
  • Learn how to set up an airway circuit
  • Understanding and interpreting capnography
  • Understand what can Enhanced and Critical Care offer to the management of airways?
  • Implementing learning with airway head workshops
  • Implementing learning through simulation
