Time is muscle – what helps or hinders great care?

Join us for an interactive online session exploring the real-world challenges and enablers in delivering care to patients with STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocordial Infarction.

We are inviting frontline colleagues to take part in upcoming Quality Improvement Workshops focused on enhancing STEMI care on the road. With these workshops, we aim to understand the barriers and facilitators impacting frontline STEMI care – and use your experience to drive meaningful improvement.

Following a recent review of national audit data (MINAP, April–July 2025), we’ve gained valuable insight into the patient journey from the 999 call through to reperfusion. While much is working well, the data highlights opportunities where small improvements in pace and flow could make a significant difference to patient outcomes.

Who should attend?

This workshop is for all frontline clinicians and operational colleagues involved in the assessment and management of suspected STEMI patients. This includes ECAs, EAAs, Advanced Technicians, Ambulance Practitioners and Student and Apprentice Paramedics.

How it will be delivered

Workshops will be delivered by county area and held online via Microsoft Teams, enabling discussion that reflects local pathways, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Understand the bigger picture – explore how pre-hospital care contributes to overall time to reperfusion
  • Hear the latest findings – including key timings such as ECG performance, on-scene time, and handover processes
  • Share frontline experiences – what works well, and what gets in the way
  • Identify practical improvements – simple changes that could help shave minutes off the pathway
  • Shape future practice – your insights will directly inform ongoing improvement work

Together, we’ll explore:

  • Real-world challenges crews face when managing suspected STEMI patients
  • Opportunities to optimise time to ECG and on-scene decision-making
  • Ways to streamline communication with Coronary Care Units
  • Practical approaches to improve the transition from diagnostic ECG to transport
