The TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed to be an introduction to teaching for those who work or would like to work in the further education and skills sector. The course ensures successful candidates develop the skills to become competent trainers who understand the variables involved in setting up an effective learning environment.

Format:

This is a self-directed programme – this means learners can complete the course at their own pace. There are no live dates (other than the micro-teach assessment).

Once enrolled, the expectation is that you will complete the course within six months. Please do not sign up unless you feel able to commit this.

What support will I get?

You will be given access to an online portfolio where you will use a range of resources (handouts, videos and online forums) as well as tutor support to answer questions.

Assessment:

You will:

  • Complete short written assignments and reflective tasks.
  • Build a portfolio of evidence.
  • Take part in a micro-teaching session that is observed and assessed. When you are ready for this assessment you will be given date options.
  • You will have access to an e-portfolio system to support you through your programme with resources in electronic and physical formats.

This course is best suited to those looking for an introduction to the role of teaching or training. The qualifications can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers or trainers, including:

  • Individuals not currently teaching or training
  • Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession
  • Individuals currently working as assessors, who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching
  • A flexible self-paced format: complete at your own pace using the training materials and available – a hard copy pack will be sent to your home address with e-versions also available.
  • 48 guided learning hours
  • Multiple short written assessments with guidance from available resources & tutors.
  • Live (virtual) assessment involving a live 15 minute micro-teach
  • Unlimited support as and when needed from the team available over the phone or via email during office hours; support outside of these times can also be arranged.
  • E-Portfolio: To support you through your programme.
It is recommended that you attempt to complete the qualification with 4-6 weeks from starting the course. The expectation is that you take no longer than 6 months to complete.
