NIHR INSIGHT Programme for South West Central
Research Masters Studentships for early career healthcare, social work and public health professionals
The National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) are funding the INSIGHT programme to provide research awareness and training opportunities to health and care professionals early in their career. This is a new programme that will run for three years and the programme has two workstreams
- Provision of research masters studentship
- Innovative engagement for pre-registration student and early career health and care professionals.
What a studentship provides
- All tuition fees
- Tax free studentship stipend – £19,237 for full time and £9,619 for part time study.
Eligibility
- Applicants may have up to 3 years of professional experience in a health or care profession but practice experience as a registered health and care professional is not a requirement.
- Have UK home student status

Info for NQPS
It is possible to complete your NQP period on a part-time basis. However, it may be the case that you are required to extend your NQP period, or demonstrate that you have met the nationally agreed learning outcomes at the 2 year point in order to progress to band 6. Any flexible working arrangements would need to be agreed via your line manager, please encourage them to contact Maisie Williams at maisie.williams@swast.nhs.uk if they would like advice about the impacts this may have on your NQP period.
