College of Paramedics – Free Learning
Level 2 & 3 Online Courses
National Ambulance LGBT+ Network
As part of the SWASFT Green Plan, we have several courses on offer teaching you more about how we can work towards environmentally sustainable healthcare.
Courses are as follows:
- Building a Net Zero NHS
An introduction to environmentally sustainable healthcare.
‘Building a Net Zero NHS’ is designed to raise awareness of the climate and ecological emergency, why it matters for health, and how healthcare contributes to it.
Learners are introduced to the “Net Zero NHS” plan and case studies which demonstrate how clinical practices can reduce carbon, costs and waste, whilst improving care quality. All NHS healthcare workers will find it useful in their work.
Click Here to complete this session.
- Environmental Sustainability in Quality Improvement
Integrating environmental, social and financial considerations into quality improvement.
This session introduces a novel approach to quality improvement, where environmental, social and financial aspects are considered alongside health outcomes.
We explore the concept of ‘sustainable value’ and use quality improvement (QI) project examples to show you how to improve the environmental and social sustainability of healthcare in your setting.
Click Here to complete this session.
*Please note – These courses will require you to be logged in to ESR, which is why the login page may appear instead of the course.*
Carbon Literacy provides learners with ‘an awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.’
The Carbon Literacy Project was recognised by the United Nations at the COP21 climate negotiations in 2015 as one of 100 ‘Transformative Actions Projects’ worldwide that could materially change the way we deal with climate change.
Learners who successfully complete a day’s worth of approved Carbon Literacy learning are certified as Carbon Literate. Upon successful assessment, a learner is awarded a uniquely numbered certificate to evidence their Carbon Literacy, and confirm that they have met the requirements of the Carbon Literacy Standard.
Further details can be found by Clicking Here.

ESR NMLS
What is ESR and NLMS?
Electronic Staff Record (ESR) is a workforce solution for the NHS, ESR supports the delivery of national workforce policy and strategy.
It provides NHS organisations with a range of tools that facilitate effective workforce management and planning; thereby enabling improved quality, improved efficiency and improved patient safety.
The comprehensive suite of workforce management functionality within ESR is exclusive to managers and employees within the NHS in England and Wales.
National Learning Management System (NLMS) is a functionality within ESR which allows staff to access and complete mandatory training offerings as well as additional CPPD. This removes the need for staff to locate courses from several sources.
How do I access ESR and NLMS?
All SWAST employees now have access to ESR self-service which allows you to view pay slips, personal information and learning dashboards.
If you haven’t used My ESR for e-learning yet there is loads, & we mean loads of free Clinical & NON-Clinical e-learning on here. The interface is a bit clunky, but there is a ton of good stuff here, and best of all, if you do it on here it is all recorded and stored on your NHS record.
