The SWAMP course provide Paramedics with the clinical knowledge and technical skills to accurately assess, prepare and close/dress minor wounds in the pre-hospital setting. Moreover, it enhances clinical confidence and enhances the paramedics’ ability to deliver timely care to patients without having to refer to MIUs and EDs.

Band 6 and above will be able to practice after completion of the course. NQPs within 2 months of Band 6 may also attend and be able to practice if Band 6 status achieved at the end of 2 months.

Due to social distancing limiting class sizes, we will not be able to take observers below Band 6 / NQPs within 2 months of Band 6.
We will try and put on more courses later for staff below Band 6 for CPD, but at present we have to prioritise those who will be able to practice on completion of the course.

Non- Band 6 staff

Due to social distancing limiting class sizes, we will not be able to take observers below Band 6 / NQPs within 2 months of Band 6.
We will try and put on more courses later for staff below Band 6 for CPD, but at present we have to prioritise those who will be able to practice on completion of the course. We are aiming to start running virtual Wound Management & Assessment CPD sessions that all staff can access, but this is still in development.

NQPS

For NQPs within 2 months of Band 6 status, you will only be able to practice when you obtain Band 6 status within 2 months of the course. If there is a delay, (i.e. you don’t become Band 6 as planned in that period), you will need to discuss this with the course tutor in case you need a refresh before you can practice.
Non – completion of module 4 of the portfolio will NOT be counted against you. i.e.  you can still apply if this is outstanding. Please make sure that you upload a screen shot that shows this.
