
Sometimes we feel over worked and under appreciated. Other times, we might like to give feedback but hold back for fear of reprisal. Occasionally, we may feel undermined by a colleague or boss. The common thread in these scenarios is the need to have a potentially difficult conversation. These conversations take strategy, skill and above all courage.
This virtual workshop is designed to enhance skills and confidence and to provide a framework to deliver courageous conversations.
Workshop outcomes:
By the end of this one-day workshop delegates will be able to:
• Differentiate between different work styles and communicate compellingly with others
• Understand and appreciate the challenge of courageous conversations
• Use tools and techniques to enable courageous conversations
• Utilize a framework to approach challenging conversations
• Return to the workplace with more skill and confidence

• Understanding and utilizing behavioural motivations theory using SDI
• Introduction to the model
• Individual reflection on profile results
• Discussion about averting misunderstanding
• Group task – strengths we value in others
• The OK corral model and its role in challenging conversations
• Enhancing personal presence and impact
• The 5 step format for challenging conversations
• Introduction to the format
• Exercise – practical application of the framework
Available to all staff of all grades (registered & non registered) in patient-facing roles.
Patient-facing includes scenarios where the patient is contacted over the phone, so also suitable for all staff based in Emergency Operations Centres.
